Wednesday: The weather was cool and gloomy this morning, which proved for a difficult challenge to find the "right" clothes to wear for the ride. Of course, a onesie seemed appropriate. It would be sufficient to tan while riding my bike, as superficial as it may sound. (HEY! It's summer!)
It was quite a trek today, a whole 7 miles. Although I rode to the beach on Sunday (a much longer ride than to work), it was difficult to keep a decent speed. It took me about 35 minutes to get to work.
Generous as she is, of course, Lauren gave me a ride home with my bike sitting in her back seat. Although it was a relief, I felt terrible about it, because A) I would never want to inconvenience her or anyone for that matter and B) I should have to "live out my sentence".

Day Zero
It began with a drive up north through Kern County and it certainly ended with a drive north to Kern County. "It" referring to the process of my license suspension for breaking the law (speeding).
State your name and date of birth. -- In a microphone in the jury box I said, "Amy Bach, December 20, 198-."
"Your speed exceeds the 105 threshold. You're sentenced to a fine of 1020$ and your license will be suspended for 31 days. Would you like to begin the suspension tomorrow or in two weeks?"
"Tomorrow, your Honor."
"Good. We will not begin the suspension today so you are able to get home safely... Now, please slow down. I want you to live a long and prosperous life..."
"Thank you, your Honor."
And that, for the most part, was the way it went.
As my last hurrah!, I ran a lot of errands and visited people while I still could drive. I am hoping that not being able to drive will relatively easy to do. It works out perfectly because it will push me to ride my bike to work, which I've been wanting to do all summer.
Well, wish me luck. It begins tomorrow.
